Andy is a well-known figure on the musical theatre scene, having been a musical director or conductor of numerous productions, from Queen's We Will Rock You to Andrew Lloyd Webber's Aspects of Love to the Michael Jackson musical, Thriller or Disney's The Lion King. He has produced and performed in concerts and cabarets all over the world and also enjoys arranging and writing music at his home in Reading.
It all began in the world of amateur dramatics while Andy was at school. He coached the singers and conducted the band for a production of The Curse of the Werewolf at Reading School, then went on to become musical director for local societies during his teens.
Since then he has moved on to slightly bigger productions and has enjoyed a successful career both as a conductor and as a singing and repertoire coach to many of the top theatre colleges around the country. He now also enjoys teaching a small number of students in singing and piano from home.
“Andy is a fantastic singing teacher based here in Reading. He taught me to sing with style and confidence through learning to sing the songs that I love. His friendly teaching style and relaxed approach to his lessons really put me at ease, enabling me to really start to sing.”
Andy's teaching style is largely to adapt to the student's needs and ambitions. Some people just enjoy singing for the sake of singing, other people may wish to pursue the dream of working in show business - most are somewhere in between.
Either way, having a singing teacher is a very personal thing that requires both trust and respect in both directions. For that reason, it is important to get to know your teacher and to be sure they understand what your personal needs are. For that reason, every new student is offered a short free session to talk about what they want, get to know their potential teacher and be sure that they are making the right choice, and whether you just want to sing your favourite songs, study towards exams or become a rock star, he is here to help you on your way.
